LearnDash Course Reviews

The LearnDash Course Reviews add-on allows students to rate and review courses they’re taking or have completed. This helps future students make informed decisions and gives teachers valuable feedback.

NOTE: Starting with LearnDash version 4.25.1, the Course Reviews add-on is built into the core. After upgrading to the latest version, you can safely delete the old Course Reviews plugin from the Plugins page.

Managing Reviews #

  • The review system uses WordPress’ comment system
  • You can disable reviews for individual courses if needed
  • To disable reviews for a course 
  • Go to LearnDash LMS > Courses
  • Edit the course
  • Click on the Course tab icon at the top right corner of the page
  • Under the Course Reviews section, toggle the option to disable

  • Teachers can approve, edit, or delete reviews from the Comments section
  • Students can leave reviews after:
    • Completing a lesson
    • Finishing the entire course
    • You can change how reviews are ordered through WordPress Discussion Settings

Moderation #

Reviews are stored as comments. You can approve, edit, or delete a review by:

  1. Going to the Comments menu in your WordPress Admin Dashboard
  2. Search for the review in the list of comments

NOTE: Starting with LearnDash version 4.25.1, the Course Reviews add-on is built into the core.

After upgrading to the latest version, you can safely delete the old Course Reviews plugin from the Plugins page.

For older versions of LearnDash, follow the installation instructions below:

  1. From your WP admin dashboard, go to LearnDash LMS > Add-ons in your WP Admin Dashboard and click Activate.
  2. Once activated, reviews are automatically enabled for all courses.
  3. To view reviews, go to LearnDash LMS > Courses and select the course you want.
  4. You’ll see both a Course tab and a Reviews tab as illustrated below.
  5. Click the Reviews tab to view submitted reviews.

Any student that is enrolled into a course and has either completed at least one step or completed the entire course.

As reviews are stored as comments, they would follow the sorting/display options that your current theme uses to display comments.

If you’d like to change the ordering, you should check with your themes features to see if this is possible. You can also modify the order by changing the settings in your WordPress admin Discussion Settings page – https://wordpress.org/documentation/article/settings-discussion-screen/#other-comment-settings
