This article explains how to preview, publish, and view a LearnDash Group once it has been set up. Before publishing, you can preview the group page to confirm that courses, users, and content appear as expected. After publishing, the group becomes visible on the front end, and enrolled users are automatically granted access to the associated courses.
Publishing the Group #
Once your group is ready to be published and you have:
- Assigned a Group Leader to the group
- Assigned courses to the group
- (Optional) Enrolled users into the group
- Added optional content and materials to the group
You can Preview Before Publishing #
To preview what the group page will look like on the front end before publishing:
- While editing your group in the block editor, locate the top-right toolbar.
- Click the Preview icon (the monitor icon next to “Save draft”).
- In the dropdown, select Preview in the new tab at the bottom of the list.
- The group page preview will open in a new browser tab, simulating how it will appear to users once published.
You can also preview the draft group using its permalink (slug) by going to the right-hand sidebar under the Group tab and locating the Slug field (e.g., group-123). Hover over or click the slug to reveal the full draft URL, then manually open that link in a new browser tab to preview the group page.
Note: Only users with appropriate permissions can access draft previews. If the group is unpublished, regular users will not be able to access it.
Once you’re satisfied with the preview, simply click the Publish button. After publishing, any users who were manually added to the group will be automatically enrolled in all courses associated with that group.
Viewing the Group #
You can view the group on the front-end in the same way you would view a regular WordPress Post or LearnDash Course.
After Publishing #
To view the group in the front-end:
- Navigate to LearnDash LMS > Groups.
- Hover over the group in question, and click the “View” link.
NOTE: You can also view the published group directly from the group edit screen by clicking the “View Group” arrow icon (↗) in the top admin toolbar. Alternatively, you can access the front-end view by locating the Slug under the Group tab in the right-hand sidebar and opening the corresponding URL in a new browser tab.
Publishing a group makes it available to users and enrolls any assigned members into the group’s associated courses. If you need to make changes later, you can return to the group at any time to update settings, add or remove users, or modify assigned courses.
