MemberPress can also handle the ecommerce and checkout experience for you, allowing you to bundle multiple courses into a single membership, and automatically granting and removing a member&#8217;s access to a course based on their membership status.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>LearnDash has some content protection built-in, but MemberPress will expand upon that and provide a lot more ways for you to manage memberships, subscriptions &amp; more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"note has-theme-palette-7-background-color has-background\"><strong>NOTE<\/strong>: You need to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.learndash.com\/memberpress-business\">purchase a license for the MemberPress plugin<\/a> before you can use the free LearnDash integration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-why-use-memberpress\">Why Use MemberPress?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A few reasons why you might want to use MemberPress in conjunction with LearnDash:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Create membership levels, and assign a course (or multiple courses) to the different levels<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Offer coupons or discount codes for your courses<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sell courses in a bundle (i.e. one price provides access to multiple courses)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sell access to courses as an ongoing subscription<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.learndash.com\/memberpress-business\" rel=\"nofollow\">View all MemberPress features <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-installation\">Installation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-option-1-add-ons-menu-requires-an-active-learndash-license\"><strong>Option 1: Add-ons Menu (requires an active LearnDash license)<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In your WordPress admin area, go to LearnDash LMS > Add-Ons and locate the MemberPress for LearnDash add-on. In your WordPress admin dashboard go to Plugins > Add New and then Click to upload the MemberPress for LearnDash plugin. You\u2019ll may need to browse for the plugin .zip that you downloaded previously. Once you find it (it may be in your computer\u2019s Downloads folder), click Open, Install Now and finally, click the Activate Plugin button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-it-works\">How it Works<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Before you can assign a LearnDash course to a membership in MemberPress, you need to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Create a LearnDash course<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Create a membership in MemberPress<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>We&#8217;ll assume you have already created a LearnDash course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-create-a-membership\">Create a Membership<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We recommend you watch the 5-minute video below, or you can read the written instructions in the <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.memberpress.com\/article\/59-creating-memberships\">MemberPress documentation<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"WordPress membership site in 5 minutes with MemberPress\" width=\"720\" height=\"405\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/okLukysrse0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-assign-a-course-to-a-membership\">Assign a Course to a Membership<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Now it&#8217;s time to associate your LearnDash course(s) with the membership you just created. Doing so will mean that once a user purchases (or simply gains access to) the membership, they will automatically have access to the course(s) as well.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"834\" height=\"408\" src=\"https:\/\/learndash.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/learndash-memberpress-assign-courses-animation.gif\" alt=\"LearnDash MemberPress, assign a course to a membership\" class=\"wp-image-1507\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>On the Edit Membership page, scroll down and look for the Membership Options box<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on the LearnDash tab<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Choose the course(s) that you want to assign to this membership<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-theme-palette-7-background-color has-background\"><strong>NOTE:<\/strong> You may link multiple courses to a single membership. Also the course that you will be selecting should have the access mode set to &#8220;Closed&#8221;. Check out our documentation on <a href=\"https:\/\/learndash.com\/support\/docs\/core\/courses\/course-access\/#closed-1\">access modes here.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you&#8217;re finished editing your membership, be sure to click the  Publish  or  Update  button to save your changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"note negative has-theme-palette-8-color has-theme-palette-1-background-color has-text-color has-background has-link-color wp-elements-7a087727d374c9e108bacb59a3317b6d\"><strong>IMPORTANT<\/strong>: When adding five or more courses to a single membership, course enrollment process is done in the background and you will need to set up a cron job. To set up a cron job please follow <a href=\"https:\/\/learndash.com\/support\/docs\/faqs\/email-notifications-send-time\/#create-cron-job-in-cpanel\">these steps.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-retroactive-tool\">Retroactive Tool<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are using MemberPress and some customers and users have been added as members or purchased courses but have not been properly granted access, you can use the retroactive tool to fix the issue.
