However, there may be cases where you want to give a student or group of students additional time. That\u2019s where the <strong>Extend Access<\/strong> feature comes in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This guide walks you through how to extend access for individual users or entire groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Before You Begin<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Make sure <strong>Course Access Expiration<\/strong> is enabled on the course(s) or group(s) you&#8217;re working with. This feature must be active in order for Extend Access to function.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Extend Access for an Individual Course<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To extend a user\u2019s access to a single course:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Navigate to <strong>LearnDash LMS > Courses<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <strong>Edit<\/strong> on the course you want to modify.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the <strong>Extended Access<\/strong> tab.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter the new expiration date for the course.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>On the left side, find and highlight the user(s) you want to extend access for.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click the <strong>right arrow<\/strong> to move the selected user(s) to the affected list.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click the <strong>Update<\/strong> button at the top of the page.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1080\" src=\"https:\/\/learndash.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/Extended-Access-Individual-Course-1.gif\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5496\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-theme-palette-7-background-color has-background\"><strong>Note:<\/strong> Even if the course has an existing end date, the extension will override it for the selected users. These users will now have access through the new date you set.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Extend Access for Multiple Courses in a Group<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To extend access across multiple courses for one or more users within a group:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Navigate to <strong>LearnDash LMS > Groups<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click <strong>Edit<\/strong> on the group you want to modify.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go to the <strong>Extended Access<\/strong> tab.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>You\u2019ll see two tables:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Extend Access to Courses<\/strong> \u2014 apply extensions to selected courses.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Extend Access to Users<\/strong> \u2014 apply extensions to selected users.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"4\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Enter the new expiration date.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>From the right-hand box, highlight the course(s) you want to extend.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click the <strong>right arrow<\/strong> to move them into the selected list.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>From the left-hand box, highlight the user(s) you want to grant extended access to.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click the <strong>right arrow<\/strong> to move them into the selected list.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click the <strong>Update<\/strong> button at the top of the page.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Group End Date Behavior<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Groups without an end date:<\/strong> The extension applies fully\u2014users can access the selected courses until the new expiration date.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Groups with an end date:<\/strong> The group end date takes priority. Users will only be able to access the courses until the group expires, even if the course expiration was extended.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">View a User\u2019s Course Expiration Date<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To check when a user&#8217;s course access ends:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Go to <strong>Users > All Users<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click the username of the user you want to check.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Scroll down to the <strong>Course Progress Details<\/strong> section.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Look to the right of each course listed to see the expiration date.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1999\" height=\"218\" src=\"https:\/\/learndash.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/image1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5494\" srcset=\"https:\/\/learndash.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/image1.png 1999w, https:\/\/learndash.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/image1-400x44.png 400w, https:\/\/learndash.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/image1-800x87.png 800w, https:\/\/learndash.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/image1-768x84.png 768w, https:\/\/learndash.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/image1-1536x168.png 1536w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1999px) 100vw, 1999px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-faq\"><b>FAQ<\/b><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"schema-faq wp-block-yoast-faq-block\"><div class=\"schema-faq-section\" id=\"faq-question-1732642602503\"><strong class=\"schema-faq-question\"><b>Can I extend access to an individual user in a Group?<\/b><\/strong> <p class=\"schema-faq-answer\">Absolutely! But there&#8217;s a catch. If your group has an end date, you can extend access to the courses, but the student can only access them while the group is still active. You can&#8217;t extend access beyond the group end date.<br\/>If your group doesn&#8217;t have an end date, it&#8217;s simpler. The extension will override any course expiry date, and the student can access the course as normal.<br\/>Remember, <a href=\"https:\/\/learndash.com\/support\/docs\/users-groups\/extend-access\/\">Extend Access<\/a> is all about flexibility.
