- Go to LearnDash LMS > Groups in your WordPress dashboard<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Click on the group you want to edit<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Click on the Settings tab at the top of the page<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Locate the section titled Group Access Settings<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
Group Access Mode<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
Access mode is how you determine the way in which someone can gain access to a group (free with registration required, one-time payment, recurring subscription, admin-enrollment, etc.). LearnDash has four group access modes available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Free<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
The following rules apply to Free groups:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
- \n
- Must be registered\/logged in to access<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- No payment is required<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Enroll in Group button is shown to users not yet enrolled. They are sent through the registration process. See Login & Registration<\/a> for more details.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
The Free access mode is a good choice if you want users to self-enroll into the group.<\/p>\n\n\n

Buy Now<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
The following rules apply to Buy Now<\/strong> (one-time payment) groups:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n
- \n
- Must be registered\/logged in to access<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Requires a one-time fee to be paid (no free access)<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Only works with the following payment methods: <\/span>PayPal<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Stripe<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Razorpay<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>2Checkout<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Do not use if youre selling group access via a shopping cart or membership plugin (see Closed access note below)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
NOTE:<\/strong> The Buy Now access mode <\/strong>allows you to use discounts\/coupons. Check out our Coupon creation guide<\/a> for more information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When using the Buy Now mode, you need to enter a price in the <\/strong>Course Price field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

- Select the Buy Now access mode<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Enter your price in the Group Price field<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

NOTE<\/strong>: For both Buy Now and Recurring access modes, the student will be automatically enrolled into the group upon a completed payment<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Recurring<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Recurring is very similar to Buy Now, except that this would be for subscription-based plans (as opposed to one-time payments).<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n
The following rules apply to Recurring groups:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

- Must be registered\/logged in to access<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Requires a recurring fee (choose a billing cycle in X days, weeks, months or years)<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Only works with the following payment methods: <\/span>PayPal<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Stripe<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Razorpay<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>2Checkout<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n

To set up the <\/span>Recurring<\/b> access mode:<\/span><\/h4>\n\n\n\n
- \n
- Select the <\/span>Recurring option<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n
- In the <\/span>Group Price field, enter the amount you would like to charge<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Enter the number of days\/weeks\/months\/years at which frequency you would like the user to be billed<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Choose either day(s), week(s), month(s) or year(s) from the dropdown<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
NOTE<\/b>: Group access sold via PayPal will not be automatically revoked should the user stop the recurring payments. This will require the administrator to manually remove the user from the group.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n
Closed<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
The following rules apply to Closed<\/strong> groups:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n
- \n
- Must be registered\/logged in to access<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Allows you to sell group access via an ecommerce or membership add-on<\/a>*<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Enables a custom Button URL field, which sends users to a custom sales or checkout page(a button is only shown if you enter a URL)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Option to manually enroll users into the group<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
When you choose closed, you are essentially telling LearnDash to restrict access to your group. In order to enroll users into the group, one of the following (or both) can happen:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
- In the <\/span>Group Price field, enter the amount you would like to charge<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Requires a recurring fee (choose a billing cycle in X days, weeks, months or years)<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Must be registered\/logged in to access<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Requires a one-time fee to be paid (no free access)<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Must be registered\/logged in to access<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n
