If you have not yet read our article on <a href=\"https:\/\/learndash.com\/support\/docs\/core\/assignments\/enable-assignments\/\">how to enable assignments<\/a>, we recommend reviewing that first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-viewing-assignments\">Viewing Assignments<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"note\">By default, admins with the Administrator role will be able to fully manage all uploaded assignments, and Group Leaders can manage assignments uploaded by users who are part of the group that they administer. However, there are user management plugins that allow you to expand these capabilities to other users and user roles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-where-to-find-them\">Where to Find Them<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Navigate to LearnDash LMS &gt; Assignments<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You&#8217;ll immediately land on the All Assignments screen, where you can see all uploaded assignments<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>A few things to keep in mind when viewing assignments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>By default, you&#8217;ll see a maximum of 20 assignments per page<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assignments are sorted in reverse chronological order (the most recently uploaded assignment appears first, at the top)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use the navigation arrows at the top and bottom of the table to locate the rest of your assignments (if you have more than 20)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-assignments-per-page\">Assignments Per Page<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you&#8217;d like to view more than 20 assignments at a time:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Click the Screen Options tab at the top of the page<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the Number of Items Per Page box, enter your desired number of assignments<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click the Apply button<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"note has-theme-palette-7-background-color has-background\"><strong>NOTE<\/strong>: The higher the number you set, the longer it will take this admin page to load. In most cases, we don&#8217;t recommend you go much higher than 100 per page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-filter-assignments\">Filter Assignments<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have hundreds or thousands of assignments, viewing all assignments on one page based on when they were uploaded might not be the most helpful. You can filter assignments based on the following criteria:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Date uploaded<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Course uploaded to<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lesson uploaded to<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Approval status<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"920\" height=\"382\" src=\"https:\/\/learndash.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/learndash-assignment-filtering-animation.gif\" alt=\"How to filter LearnDash assignments in the admin\" class=\"wp-image-1922\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To filter assignments:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Locate the filter bar near the top of the screen<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click the dropdown menu for the criteria you want to filter by<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Choose a date, course, lesson, or approval status<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click the Filter button<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>You can use multiple filters at once. For example, you can filter by assignments uploaded in <code>March 2019<\/code>, to <code>Course A<\/code>, which are <code>Not Approved<\/code>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-search-assignments\">Search Assignments<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Another way to locate a specific assignment is to search for it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You can only search the Title column, which is equal to the file name. You cannot search by author or user&#8217;s name.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you plan to utilize the search feature while managing assignments, you might want to ask your users to name their files in a specific way so they are easier for you to find.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"920\" height=\"376\" src=\"https:\/\/learndash.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/learndash-assignment-search-animation.gif\" alt=\"How to search LearnDash assignments in the admin\" class=\"wp-image-1923\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you allow multiple file types to be uploaded, you can use the file extension to find all assignments of the same file type. For example:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Search <code>pdf<\/code> to find all PDF files<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Search <code>mp3<\/code> to find all MP3 audio files<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-download-assignments\">Download Assignments<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There are two ways to download a user&#8217;s assignment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From the &#8220;All Assignments&#8221; screen (easiest):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Hover over the row that contains the assignment you want to download<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click the Download link<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"632\" height=\"578\" src=\"https:\/\/learndash.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/learndash-download-assignment-admin.jpg\" alt=\"&quot;Download Assignment&quot; screen:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can only adjust points on this screen if the assignment has not been approved yet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In the Points column, enter the number of points you&#8217;d like to award<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the Status column, click the Approve button<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"908\" height=\"302\" src=\"https:\/\/learndash.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/learndash-assignment-add-points-admin-animation.gif\" alt=\"Add points to a LearnDash assignment\" class=\"wp-image-1933\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the assignment has already been approved, you can adjust points from the individual assignment page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Click on the assignment you&#8217;d like to adjust points for<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Scroll down to the Assignments box<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Next to Points, enter the points you&#8217;d like to award<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click the Update and Approve button<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"note has-theme-palette-7-background-color has-background\"><strong>NOTE<\/strong>: Adjusting points is always available, even after you&#8217;ve approved an assignment. There is no limit to the amount of times you can adjust the points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-the-user-sees-0\">What the User Sees<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>When viewing a lesson or topic to which they&#8217;ve uploaded an assignment, the user will see how many points were awarded for each assignment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-provide-feedback-comments\">Provide Feedback\/Comments<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As a course administrator, you have the ability to provide feedback (or comments) on assignments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"note has-theme-palette-7-background-color has-background\"><strong>NOTE<\/strong>: Make sure you&#8217;ve enabled comments in your <a href=\"https:\/\/learndash.com\/support\/docs\/core\/assignments\/assignment-settings\/\">Global Assignment settings<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>From the All Assignments screen, click on the assignment you&#8217;d like to provide feedback on<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Scroll down to the Comments box<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click the Add Comment button<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Type in your feedback<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click the Add Comment button once more<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"930\" height=\"500\" src=\"https:\/\/learndash.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/learndash-assignment-add-comment-admin-animation.gif\" alt=\"Add comments to LearnDash assignments\" class=\"wp-image-1929\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>When your users view the lesson or topic that they uploaded assignments to, they&#8217;ll be able to see that you&#8217;ve posted a comment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>They can click on the comment icon to be taken to the individual assignment page where all comments are listed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>They&#8217;ll be able to respond with their own comments, as well.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-delete-assignments\">Delete Assignments<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Many course administrators choose to keep all assignments so they can be referred back to. However, you might want to delete your assignments (when a course is over, if the user is no longer a student in the course, etc.).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To delete an assignment:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>From the All Assignments screen, hover over the row for the assignment that you want to delete<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click the red Trash link<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"632\" height=\"578\" src=\"https:\/\/learndash.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/learndash-assignment-admin-trash-link.jpg\" alt=\"Trash a LearnDash assignment in the admin\" class=\"wp-image-1930\" srcset=\"https:\/\/learndash.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/learndash-assignment-admin-trash-link.jpg 632w, https:\/\/learndash.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/learndash-assignment-admin-trash-link-400x366.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 632px) 100vw, 632px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The assignment will immediately disappear from the lesson\/topic page, and the user will no longer be able to see it. However, as an admin, the assignment is placed in a trash bin. It can be recovered for up to 30 days, at which point it will then be permanently deleted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-notifications\">Notifications<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s also possible to send and receive notifications about activity on assignments, to both administrators and users.
