The LearnDash topic settings screen is where you can set global options that will apply to all<\/strong> topics on your site. Topic settings are organized into a few sections, outlined below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To access your global topic settings:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. In the WordPress dashboard, go to LearnDash LMS > Topics<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Click the Settings tab<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n

    Topic Taxonomies (Categories and Tags)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    This is where you decide how to organize your topics. You have four options:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Using topic taxonomies is completely optional, but they provide an additional way to organize your topics. Go ahead and <\/span>enable the ones that make sense for your course structure. This will help you group similar topics together and make navigation easier for your students.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    • LearnDash Topics Categories:<\/b> These allow<\/span> you to organize your topics into custom categories that are only available for LearnDash topics.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • LearnDash Topics Tags:<\/b> These allow<\/span> you to organize your topics using custom tags that are only available for LearnDash topics.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • WP Post Categories:<\/b> These allow<\/span> you to organize your topics using WordPress default category management system. These categories can be viewed <\/span>and<\/span> managed in the WordPress <\/span>dashboard<\/span> under POSTS > CATEGORIES.<\/span> You can share them <\/span>between<\/span> both the Posts <\/span>and<\/span> Topics post types.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • WP Post Tags:<\/b> These allow you to organize your topics using WordPress default tag management system. These tags can be viewed and managed in the WordPress dashboard under POSTS > TAGS. You can share them amongst both the Posts and Topics post types.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      Managing Categories and Tags<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      You can manage (add, edit, or delete) the WordPress and LearnDash Categories and Tags via the <\/span>Actions menu:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      • Go to LearnDash LMS > Topics<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Select the Actions dropdown menu<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Select your desired menu option<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n

        Custom Post Type Options<\/h2>\n\n\n

        • Search:<\/strong> Enable this setting if you want topics to be included in search results when using the default WordPress search form on the front-end of your site. You can further customize this by enabling either Logged-in User only o rEnrolled Only.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Archive Page:<\/strong> Enable this setting if you want to enable the front-end archive page where all the topics are listed. Once enabled, for this to take effect, you must re-save your site permalinks. You can also further enable the RSS\/Atom Feed when you turn this setting on.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Editor Supported Settings:<\/strong> Select these settings to allow WordPress supported settings within the editor and theme such as the featured images, comments, custom fields and revisions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

          NOTE<\/strong>: Search has nothing to do with Google search results. Google will index your topic pages regardless of this setting.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
