Course creators can include supplemental materials, enable video requirements, allow assignment uploads, or use a lesson timer to guide student progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Before You Begin<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To access the Display and Content settings for a Lesson:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Navigate to <strong>LearnDash LMS > Lessons<\/strong> in the WordPress Dashboard.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on the Lesson to edit.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click the <strong>Settings<\/strong> tab.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Scroll to the <strong>Display and Content Options<\/strong> section.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Only <strong>one<\/strong> of the following features can be enabled per Lesson:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Video Progression<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assignment Uploads<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Forced Lesson Timer<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Enabling one will disable the others.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1530\" height=\"1014\" src=\"https:\/\/learndash.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/learndash-lesson-display-content-settings.jpg\" alt=\"LearnDash lesson display &amp; content settings\" class=\"wp-image-1866\" srcset=\"https:\/\/learndash.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/learndash-lesson-display-content-settings.jpg 1530w, https:\/\/learndash.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/learndash-lesson-display-content-settings-400x265.jpg 400w, https:\/\/learndash.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/learndash-lesson-display-content-settings-768x509.jpg 768w, https:\/\/learndash.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/learndash-lesson-display-content-settings-800x530.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1530px) 100vw, 1530px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-adding-lesson-materials\">Adding Lesson Materials<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Lesson materials are optional resources that support the Lesson content. These might include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>PDFs or downloadable files<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Images or audio files<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Links to external websites<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>To add Lesson Materials:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Toggle on the <strong>Lesson Materials<\/strong> option.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter your content in the provided field (HTML is supported).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-theme-palette-7-background-color has-background\"><strong>Tip:<\/strong> Lesson materials appear in a separate tab next to the main Lesson content.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1492\" height=\"320\" src=\"https:\/\/learndash.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/learndash-lesson-materials-frontend-example.jpg\" alt=\"LearnDash lesson materials frontend example\" class=\"wp-image-1867\" srcset=\"https:\/\/learndash.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/learndash-lesson-materials-frontend-example.jpg 1492w, https:\/\/learndash.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/learndash-lesson-materials-frontend-example-400x86.jpg 400w, https:\/\/learndash.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/learndash-lesson-materials-frontend-example-768x165.jpg 768w, https:\/\/learndash.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/learndash-lesson-materials-frontend-example-800x172.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1492px) 100vw, 1492px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"note has-theme-palette-7-background-color has-background\"><strong>NOTE<\/strong>: Between video progression, assignment uploads and lesson timer, only one of the three can be enabled at a time. Enabling one of these options will make the other two inaccessible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-setting-up-video-progression\">Setting Up Video Progression<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Video Progression feature ensures students watch the entire video before completing the lesson. You&#8217;ll be presented with a few additional options:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-file-extensions\">File extensions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Allow students to upload files as part of their Lesson submission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To enable Assignment Uploads:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Toggle on the <strong>Assignment Uploads<\/strong> option.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Configure the following options:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-file-extensions-0\">File Extensions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Enter allowed file types (e.g., <code>doc, pdf, jpg<\/code>) \u2014 without the period.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Separate multiple types with commas.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Leave blank to allow all file types.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Example: <code>doc, docx, xls, xlsx, ppt, pptx<\/code><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/fileinfo.com\/filetypes\/common\">Here&#8217;s a list of common file extensions<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-file-size-limit\">File size limit<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Enter a value like <code>5M<\/code> to limit uploads to 5 megabytes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The lower value between your setting and your hosting limit will be used.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"note has-theme-palette-7-background-color has-background\"><strong>NOTE<\/strong>: If file uploads are failing, check your <a href=\"https:\/\/learndash.com\/support\/docs\/getting-started\/hosting\/\">host\u2019s<\/a> upload limit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-points\">Points<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Toggle on <strong>Points<\/strong> to award points for submissions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter the number of points students should earn.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-grading-type\">Grading Type<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Choose how assignments are approved:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Auto-approve<\/strong> (default): Files are accepted instantly, and points awarded automatically.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Manually approve<\/strong>: Admin or Group Leader must approve before the Lesson can be marked complete.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If using manual approval, two additional options appear:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Limit Number of Uploads<\/strong>: Set a maximum number of files per student. Leave blank for unlimited.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Allow File Deletion<\/strong>: Let students delete uploaded files before approval.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-theme-palette-7-background-color has-background\"><strong>Note:<\/strong> Assignment Uploads are not available if Video Progression or a Lesson Timer is enabled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-adding-a-forced-lesson-timer\">Adding a Forced Lesson Timer<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Forced Lesson Timer<\/strong> requires students to stay on the Lesson page for a set time before marking it complete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To enable:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Toggle on <strong>Forced Lesson Timer<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter the required time in this format: <code>HH:MM:SS<\/code> (e.g., <code>00:15:00<\/code> for 15 minutes).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>The timer will display below the <strong>Mark Complete<\/strong> button. This setting cannot be used with Video Progression or Assignment Uploads<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"456\" height=\"248\" src=\"https:\/\/learndash.com\/support\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/learndash-forced-lesson-timer-example-animation.gif\" alt=\"LearnDash forced lesson timer example\" class=\"wp-image-1869\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"has-theme-palette-7-background-color has-background\"><strong>Note<\/strong>: A lesson can only use one of these features at a time: <strong>Video Progression<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/learndash.com\/support\/glossary\/assignment\/\"><strong>Assignment<\/strong><\/a><strong> Uploads<\/strong>, or <strong>Forced <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/learndash.com\/support\/glossary\/lesson\/\"><strong>Lesson<\/strong><\/a><strong> Timer<\/strong>.
