The General<\/strong> tab contains most of LearnDash\u2019s global settings. These settings apply site-wide and are grouped into the sections below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Warning:<\/strong> Support for the LearnDash Legacy Template<\/strong> ended on June 15, 2025<\/strong>. Switch to the LearnDash 3.0 template<\/strong> to continue receiving support and updates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Design & Content Elements<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Note:<\/strong> This group of settings was introduced in LearnDash 3.0.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Active Template<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Active Template<\/strong> controls the layout and styling for LearnDash content such as courses, lessons, topics, and quizzes<\/strong>. A WordPress theme controls site-wide elements (header, footer, pages, blog posts). This setting affects only LearnDash components.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Available templates:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  • Legacy<\/strong>
    The original LearnDash design used through version 2.6 and earlier. Upgrading LearnDash does not automatically change this setting. Some newer features (such as Focus Mode and Login\/Registration) are not compatible with Legacy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • LearnDash 3.0<\/strong>
    The redesigned template introduced in version 3.0. Enabled by default on new LearnDash installations. Additional settings appear when this template is selected.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Theme and plugin compatibility<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

    If display issues occur when using the LearnDash 3.0 template with a LearnDash-optimized theme or plugin, contact the theme\/plugin developer to confirm compatibility with the newer templates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Warning:<\/strong> If custom Legacy template files were added to a theme, switching to LearnDash 3.0 may prevent those customizations from appearing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    LearnDash 3.0 Template Settings<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    Note:<\/strong> The settings below are available only when LearnDash 3.0<\/strong> is selected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Colors<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

    Customize LearnDash UI colors:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    • Accent Color<\/strong>: Buttons, links, and other highlighted elements<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Progress Color<\/strong>: Completion indicators, certificates, and progress bars<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Notifications \/ Warnings<\/strong>: Alerts and important messages<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      Focus Mode<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      Focus Mode<\/strong> provides a distraction-free layout for lessons, topics, and quizzes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Focus Mode content width<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

      Sets the width of the lesson content area (Focus Mode still uses the full screen). Options:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      • Default (960px) \u2014 Recommended<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Narrow (768px)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Wide (1180px)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Extra-wide (1600px)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Full-width<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

        Focus Mode sidebar position<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

        (Added in version 4.1.0) Sets the Focus Mode sidebar to the left<\/strong> or right<\/strong> side of the screen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Presenter Mode<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

        Presenter Mode<\/strong> is an optional Focus Mode setting designed for live instruction and screen sharing. It adjusts the layout to prioritize lesson content and reduce visual distractions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Presenter Mode is useful for:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          \n
        • Webinars or live virtual classes<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Projector or large-screen presentations<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Instructor-led sessions where learners follow along<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

          When enabled, Presenter Mode:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            \n
          • Expands the main content area for easier viewing<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • Minimizes emphasis on navigation elements<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • Keeps course navigation available in a simplified form<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

            Login & Registration<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

            When enabled, Login and Registration<\/strong> uses LearnDash\u2019s customized registration and login experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            Logo Upload<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

            Uploading a logo is optional, but recommended when using Focus Mode<\/strong> or Login and Registration<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            Logo placement:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            • Focus Mode<\/strong>: Displays in the header area above course navigation<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            • Login and Registration<\/strong>: Displays below the login form, under the Login button<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

              Video Responsive CSS<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

              When enabled, videos using Video Progression<\/strong> automatically adapt to different screen sizes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

              If videos display incorrectly after enabling this setting, disable it. Some WordPress themes already include responsive video behavior.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

              Admin User Settings<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

              These settings control how users with the Administrator<\/strong> role interact with courses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

              • Course Auto-Enrollment<\/strong>
                Automatically enrolls administrators in all courses. Disable to require administrators to enroll like other users.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
              • Bypass Course Limits<\/strong>
                Allows administrators to ignore progression rules and access restrictions. Disable to force administrators to follow the course structure.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
              • Include in Reports<\/strong>
                Includes administrator activity in LearnDash reports. Disable to exclude administrators from reporting.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

                Note:<\/strong> This setting is not currently applicable to ProPanel. Administrators appear in ProPanel reports in version 3.0 and above.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                Modern Appearance (Beta)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

                Modern Course Page Style<\/strong> is an updated layout for course pages that improves styling and access\/enrollment details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                Note:<\/strong> This feature is in beta but stable for production use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                          Global Pagination Settings<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

                          Global pagination controls how many items appear per page across LearnDash lists (courses, lessons, topics, quizzes). These settings affect LearnDash shortcodes, widgets, and course content tables.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                          • Default value: 20 items per page<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
                          • Enter 0<\/strong> to disable pagination and show all items<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

                            WP Profile<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

                            Applies to LearnDash information shown in the WordPress user profile screen (Users \u2192 All Users \u2192 Edit<\/strong>) and some LearnDash widgets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                            • Course progress per page<\/strong>
                              Controls how many courses appear under Course Progress Details<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                            • Quizzes per page<\/strong>
                              Controls how many quizzes appear under You Have Taken the Following Quizzes<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

                              Quiz edit screen<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

                              • Backend Question Widget<\/strong>
                                Controls how many questions appear in the quiz edit metabox. This setting does not affect the Quiz Builder and can be left at default when using the builder.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

                                Shortcodes and widgets<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
                                  \n
                                • Shortcodes and Widgets<\/strong>
                                  Controls how many items display in LearnDash widgets and shortcodes (including courseinfo). Many shortcodes can override this value using shortcode attributes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
